First meet of the year

We had our first meet of the year on Thursday against 3A powerhouses South Central and Greene Central. Both teams finished third but the competition was fierce. The newcomers had notable performances. Michelle Lowry excelled as she flew in the 400. Jamal Hardy complimented veteran hurdlers Jeremy Hardy and Courtney Fuller. Courtney qualified for regionals in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the high jump. Junior Shamira Robertson qualified in the 300 hurdles and the high jump. She barely missed qualifying in the 100 high hurdles. The 3200 meter relay team of Jordan Cayton, Trey Baggett, Larez Dail and Jarvis Murphy shocked the field by coming from behind to take the first event in 9:25. The Chargers next meet is on Monday at home against county rival Farmville HS. I am posting this late. We will welcome back our basketball players. They had advanced to the regional finals tonight against North Edgecombe only to be edged out in the final quarter by 6 points. We are proud of them and look forward to their return. Coach D.
